DJI Avata is a compact, cinewhoop‑style FPV drone designed for immersive first‑person flight with DJI Goggles and motion/RC controllers. Its integrated propeller guards, Emergency Brake and Hover, Return‑to‑Home, and Turtle mode help new and experienced pilots fly close to subjects with added confidence. A 1/1.7‑inch CMOS camera captures ultra‑wide 4K footage with electronic stabilization, while the DJI O3+ transmission system delivers a sharp, low‑latency live view to the goggles. Avata also includes 20 GB of internal storage so you can keep recording even without a microSD card.

Advantages

  • Immersive FPV experience with DJI O3+ transmission: up to 1080p/100fps goggles feed, ~30 ms latency, strong anti‑interference and up to 10 km (FCC) range.
  • Integrated prop guards and robust cinewhoop frame for confident close‑quarters flying; Emergency Brake & Hover, RTH, and Turtle mode add safety and recovery options.
  • Ultra‑wide 155° 4K capture with RockSteady and HorizonSteady for smooth, stable footage during aggressive maneuvers; D‑Cinelike color profile for flexible grading.
  • 20 GB onboard storage plus microSD support to keep recording even if a card is unavailable.

Disadvantages

  • Only downward sensing; no forward/omnidirectional obstacle avoidance.
  • Single‑axis tilt gimbal; stabilization relies on EIS rather than a 3‑axis mechanical gimbal.
  • Approx. 18‑minute hover/flight time is shorter than typical camera drones.
  • Not a sub‑250 g aircraft (approx. 410 g), which can reduce portability and may affect regulatory requirements in some regions.
  • Still photos saved as JPEG only (no RAW).
